ANNAMACHARYA
23. నేనేమెరిఁగి సేసేనో నీకుఁ దిరువారాధన
IN this marvellous verse, Annamacharya is describing the act of meditation. Meditation is connecting with the ultimate. It does not involve the performer as an entity, but he is the mediation. Annamacharya’s verses are not be construed on their apparent meaning, but must be felt to understand their deeper sense. This verse is a fine example for such profound depth.
In this verse, we may compare him with ARJUN in VISHWARUPA DARSHAN YOGA of BHAGAVADGITA. Arjun after seeing the incredible shape of KRISHNA, though utters few shlokas, but never could comprehend what is before him by stating న హి ప్రజానామి తవ ప్రవృత్తిమ్ (na hi prajānāmi tava pravṛittim) I CAN NOT FATHOM WHAT YOU ARE.(15-31)
నేనేమెరిఁగి సేసేనో నీకుఁ దిరువారాధన
nEnEmerigi
sEsEnO nIku diruvArAdhana
Word to word meaning: నేను (nEnu) = me; ఏమి (Emi) = What; ఎరిఁగి (erigi) =knowing, being aware; సేసేనో= చేసేనో (sEsEnO = cEsEnO) = perform; నీకుఁ (nIku) = to you; దిరువారాధన= తిరువారాధన (diruvArAdhana = tiruvArAdhana) = devotional service, meditation; ఆని (Ani) = touching, leaning; మున్నిటి (munniTi)= prior, earlier; బ్రహ్మరుద్రాదులు (brahmarudrAdulu) = Brahma, Shiva and others; సేయఁగలేరు (sEyagalEru) = Did not perform.
Literal meaning: Knowing what? Am I performing this devotional service? Touching upon what Brahma and Shiva did not do before.
Implied Meaning: Upon contact with what, I know not, I am in meditation. What can I offer (to the ultimate) more than Shiva and Brahma did.
Comments: here the meaning of తిరువారాధన = meditation is more appropriate. Annamacharya said Conducting completely without the sense of independency of oneself is true meditation. (Ref: సర్వము నీవని స్వతంత్రముడిగి నిర్వహించుటే నీ పూజ in verse verse నిండు మనసే నీ పూజ).
Thus, the true meditation is not a prayer, but it is an act of unification of the person with the god. In this act of meditation as there is no sense of self or Ego. Implying the said meditation is not an experience which leaves certain traces. Therefore, no one knows or can describe such an act of meditation. That is exactly that is what Annamcharya mentioned by saying, “know not why I am in meditation” in this beautiful verse.

Comments: Being aware that meditation does not leave traces of its experience, Annamacharya explains that he does not remember what happened to him in that deep act of meditation. But he wonders what happened to him in that inconceivable state by divulging these plausible dispositions.
By stating నీ వొక్కచోనే వుండేది (you stay in one place), Annamcharya implied that GOD does not reside outside, but in the hearts of beings. Innumerable verses he made it clear that god must be searched in our hearts.

Comments: Annamacharya indicated by word యించుకేకాలము to signify that only tiny fraction of time is all the experience a human may have of the ultimate.
నన్ను గొంత మెప్పించనెరిగి is indicating that God loves his subjects and bestows them with gratification of their wants.
